Presentation Title: Get off the Ground – Making the Transition from Tent to Hammock Camping
Presentation Description: Have you heard all the buzz about this “hammock camping” thing and wondered what it’s all about? Are you still sleeping on the ground like an animal for your outdoor adventures? Tired of waking up sore? Hammock camping may be the thing for you!
Hammock camping has grown exponentially in the backpacking community because hammocks are light, versatile, and infinitely configurable. There are literally thousands of configurations that can be accomplished and hammocks can be used in the middle of summer or the dead of winter. There are almost no limits to the possibilities with hammocks, but there are some things everyone needs to know before venturing out in the backcountry with one. In this session, you will learn about types of hammocks, insulation, tarps and shelters, and some of the facts vs. myths about hammock camping.
Lance is an avid outdoor enthusiast and enjoys hiking, camping, and backpacking. He made the switch to hammock camping in 2011 when a friend let him try out his Hennessy Hammock. His favorite destinations include Yosemite national Park, Red River Gorge in Kentucky and Zaleski State Forest in Ohio.
Lance is also an amateur photographer and is the author of the “OutLan” YouTube channel. When he’s not spending time with his twin boys, Lance can be found somewhere on the trail.
