Presentation Title: Van Life Panel
Van Life frees up income and offers mobility to pursue passions, explore and travel.
We’ve assembled a panel of “Van Lifers” to showcase this rapidly growing lifestyle and understand the philosophy that has motivated millions of people around the world to give up “The American Dream” and live their OWN dream.
Moderator: Brent Anslinger
Panel: Shannon Thomas, Trevor Gay and Paul Gelvezon
Shannon is a long time paddler, surfer and rock climber. Raised in Dayton with a wander lust for seeking adventure, Shannon views van life as a lifestyle that allows him to chase surf and sunshine. Using his design and construction skills, Shannon is currently building out his third design concept for his new Sprinter. Years of experience on the road has allowed Shannon to improve upon past designs for maximum comfort and efficiency.
Born and raised in Spring Valley, Ohio, Trevor Gay is a professional photographer and videographer with a passion for the outdoors and all things bicycle related. His route to van life started after building his very own tiny house right here in Dayton, before traveling the country as part of HGTV’s “Tiny House Big Living” TV show. With adventure on the mind, he set his sights on traveling and even smaller living in a Sprinter van, which would turn into a wild saga of highs (marriage and honeymoon) and lows (power tools and emergency rooms).
Paul moved from San Diego to the Columbus, Ohio area in 2007. He is a former pro soccer player who retired in the late 90s. Nowadays you can find Paul on the sidelines watching his 11 & 10 year old boys, who play club soccer for Ohio Premier, or teaching at Mad River Mountain. Paul and his family have a custom Sprinter named “Double Black”. “Double Black” gets the family out west, up to Lake Erie, and to and from soccer tournaments. In the plans are a surf trip to San Diego.
