Miamisburg natives Brent and Ron Anslinger along with Jordan Hart will share pictures, stories, and lessons learned from their 16-day 850 mile self-supported bicycle trip from Astoria, Oregon to San Francisco that totaled over 48,000 feet of climbing! Follow the journey as this trio takes you through the coastal fog and up dramatic capes and through magnificent Redwoods on their way to the Golden Gate Bridge.
Brent Anslinger of Miamisburg, is passionate about outdoor recreation and has the pleasure of serving as Outdoor Recreation Program Manager for Five Rivers MetroParks. Through his work has been involved in the planning of The Adventure Summit since its inception in 2006. On a personal note, Brent has been to all 50 states and throughout Canada on his quest to visit amazing places. Along the way he’s worked for the National Park Service and Backpacker Magazine interspersed between his long distance hikes of the Appalachian Trail, Pacific Crest Trail, and Buckeye Trail, the latter two hike he did with his wife Amy. Brent is currently working on completing a section ride of the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route where he only has Washington remaining. Brent and Amy now share their traveling lifestyle with daughters Oakley and Austen.
Ron Anslinger a retired teacher from Miamisburg, has been an avid bicycle rider is whole life. He rides multiple times a week on the local paved trails and has ridden GOBA (Great Ohio Bicycle Adventure) for the last 28 years with one exception. In 2001, instead of riding GOBA, Ron set off from Yorktown, Virginia and successfully rode over 4000 miles cross country on the Trans America Route to Florence, Oregon. Ron continues to find opportunities to travel and in 2015, at age 68, toured by bicycle from Astoria, Oregon to San Francisco on the Pacific Coast Bicycle Route with his son Brent and friend Jordan Hart.
Jordan Hart is an Outdoor Recreation Program Specialist for Five Rivers MetroParks helping to support cycling, backcountry and paddling programs in Dayton, Ohio the Outdoor Adventure Capital of the Midwest! He has a background in photography, is a local scout leader and travels as much as possible, including a recent cross county bike tour of the Underground Railroad Bicycle Route.
