Youth in the Wild
Trailblazing Hope Outdoors is a local nonprofit whose mission is to provide a modality of mental, emotional, and physical healing through outdoor recreation and education to youth in the Miami Valley. In order to accomplish this mission THO has identified three primary objectives: recreation, education, and conservation. Through the Outdoor Programs (education/conservation) and Adventure Experiences (recreation), participants engage in programming that introduces them to outdoor skills and competencies, Leave No Trace principles, and thrilling outdoor activities. Strategic partnerships with local parks districts, school districts, outdoor organizations, and businesses has permitted THO to provide no-cost outdoor programming to its participants. This ensures that all are extended the opportunity to participate in the challenge, beauty, and healing that the outdoors provide. Join Lead Adventurer Jonathan Slider as he shares about this exciting opportunity for youth in the Miami Valley and how you can play a part in introducing nature is a NEW and rewarding way.
Jonathan Slider is the Executive Director and Lead Adventurer for Trailblazing Hope Outdoors. His passion for working with youth started over twenty years ago when we was just 16 years old. His love for the outdoors has always been inside of him but came alive on his first backpacking trip in June of 2013. As the trail can take many turns, so has the one Jonathan has been on. From US Navy Sailor, to pastor, to eventual outdoor professional; the journey Jonathan has been on is as wild as the most primitive wilderness area. Jonathan is certified as a Wilderness First Responder (WFR), LNT Trainer, and has a Masters in Sport Management: Outdoor Adventure Sports. He lives in Beavercreek and is married to his amazing wife Rebekah and a father to Abigail, Nathan, and Ella.
