Leaf Me Alone: A Primer on Dangerous Plants and Fungi

Brian Murray

^

Nature is beautiful, but some plants are not as friendly as they look. In this fun, practical, and eye-opening session, emergency physician and medical toxicologist Dr. Brian Murray takes you on a guided tour of the toxic plants you’re most likely to encounter on trails, in parks, and even in your own backyard. You’ll learn how to recognize common poisonous species, the science behind their toxins, what symptoms they cause, and most importantly, what to do if you or someone in your group has a close call. Whether you’re a hiker, climber, camper, dog owner, or nature lover, this session will help you navigate the outdoors more safely, without losing your sense of adventure.
