Hear tales of Tom Helbig’s two-month vanlife adventure in Baja Mexico. He explored most of the peninsula surfing, paddling, fly fishing, snorkeling and fatbiking discovering amazing natural spaces, beautiful people, delicious food and vibrant culture. The penninsula is 775 mies long with over 1900 miles of coastline providing endless opportunities for adventure. He also completed a 200 HR Yoga Teacher Training and Reiki Level 1 Practitioner. Enjoy storytelling through photos and video with a Q&A.
During the summer of 2017, Tom thru-hiked the 1,400 mile Buckeye Trail in Ohio. At a speaking engagement for first and second graders along the journey, one student asked Tom why? Tom thought for a few minutes. He said “I love to play outside, to be adventurous, make new friends, care about nature and help other people.” He could have stopped at play outside and the kids would have been satisfied. Adults often need more justification. This answer now serves as a pretty good bio. Simple living is core to who he is as well. He has lived in my van full time for seven years, the most liberating decision of his life. Tom hopes you can join him on trail, a wave, bike ride, casting a line, telling stories around a campfire and/or dancing the night away.
